대학원이라는 곳에서 실패를 하면서... How I failed in graduate school(Korean& English, Tips)

필자는 대학원 탈락자이다. 나는 대학원을 진학했다가 교수가 나가라고 해서 나간 사람이다.

 

 

 

이런..ㅋㅋ 어쩌다가 갑자기 대학원을 진학을 했는지는 생각해보면 진짜 나도 어쩔수 없었다. 앞으로 인공지능이 만들어지면서 나는 대학원이 더 유행할 것이라고 판단했기 때문이다.  내가 그렇게 생각을 했던 이유는

 

1. 인공지능이 반드시 포함된 기술을  배워야 한다고 생각을 했고

2. 생각하는 방법을 추가적으로 배워야 한다고 생각을 했기 때문이다.  

 

하지만 대학원에서 일반 인공지능 연구자들의 성장 갭이랑 인공지능 활용자들의 갭 차이는 많이 다를 수 있다. 그리고 생각보다 현실에서 사람들은 인공지능이 나온지도 잘모른다. 심지어 대학원생들 조차 모른다. 

 

실제로 대학원에서 인공지능에 꼭 필요할만한 사고능력을 배울수 있는곳이 맞기는하다. 하지만 섬세할수록 촉이 날카로울수록 조금만 방향이 달라지고 완전 다른 방향을 가르키듯이 대학원 또한 내가 생각한 연구를 하는곳이 아니고 또는 나랑 맞는 교수가 아닐 수 있다.  대학원에서 정말 필요하다고 생각하는 점은 교수를 정말 잘 골라야한다는 점이다. 이 방법은 교수면담보다 교수 논문을 통해 확인해야 한다. 하지만 학부생 실력으로는 교수 실력을 알 수 없다. 그래서 어려운 것이다.  그래서 아는 지인들을 통해 확인을 하거나 인턴을 해보는 것을 추천한다. 

정리: 인공지능의 등장으로 대학원을 가야한다고 생각을 했지만 실패를 했고 그 이유를 적었다.
1. 지도교수를 잘정해라. 2. 연구분야를 잘 정해라 
1,2번을 잘하기 위해서 논문을 읽어보거나 지인을 통해 알아내거나 인턴을 해보는 수밖에 없다

The author is a graduate school dropout. I once enrolled in graduate school, but a professor told me to leave.

Well, I found myself suddenly pursuing graduate school without much choice. I made that decision because I believed tha

t with the development of artificial intelligence, graduate schools would become even more popular in the future.

My reasons for thinking this were 

 

1. I believed we had to learn technologies that necessarily included AI, 

2. I thought we needed to develop additional ways of thinking. 

 

However, the growth gap between general AI researchers and AI users in graduate school can be quite significant. Surpri

singly, many people in the real world aren't even aware that AI has emerged, even some graduate students.

Indeed, graduate school is a place where one can learn the thinking skills necessary for AI. However, just as a delicate an

d keen sense can point in entirely different directions with even a slight change, the same goes for finding a graduate sch

ool or a professor that aligns with my research interests. What I think is really important in graduate school is to choose th

e right professor. This should be confirmed through the professor's papers rather than through meetings. However, it is dif

ficult for an undergraduate to assess a professor's abilities, which makes it challenging.

So, I recommend finding out through acquaintances or trying an internship.

Summary: I believed that I needed to attend graduate school due to the emergence of AI, but I failed, and I wrote down the reasons.

1.Choose your supervisor wisely.

2. Choose your research field carefully.
In order to excel in steps 1 and 2, one must read papers, learn from acquaintances, or try an internship. 

 

 

++ I have 8 months of  work experience in the embedded systems field and believed myselves to be quite but not skilled. However, I ultimately encountered setbacks and experienced failure. Nonetheless, I am not overly disheartened, as  there are still opportunities for growth and progress. Let's all persevere and thrive together in this challenging world, fellow survivalists!
